Important Updates for PA ABLE Account Holders: Transitioning to a New Program Manager

Hello Pennsylvania families,

If you use a PA ABLE Savings Program account to save for your loved one’s future, there are some important changes happening this summer that you need to know about.

Beginning in July 2026, PA ABLE accounts are transitioning to a new program manager called Vestwell. This change is designed to bring you lower fees, an improved online portal, and new features like a customizable prepaid card.

Key Dates and Action Items:

  • Blackout Period (July 23 to July 28, 2026): During this time, you will not be able to access your account online, and no transactions (like contributions, withdrawals, or transfers) will be processed. The customer service team will be available for questions only.
  • Fifth Third Bank Checking Account Customers: If you use the Fifth Third Bank debit card or write checks, please note that these will no longer work after June 30, 2026. You will need to make alternate plans for making withdrawals until the new prepaid cards are available.
  • New Disclosure Statement: A new PA ABLE Disclosure Statement will go into effect on July 28, 2026. We recommend reviewing this document to understand the new terms and investment options.

What do you need to do?

First, make sure your contact information is up to date so you receive all the important notifications about this transition. If you receive paper statements, consider signing up for email delivery for faster updates.

Second, review the PA ABLE Transition Guide provided on their website. This guide has a detailed timeline, frequently asked questions, and information on how your current investments will move to the new options.

We know transitions like this can be a bit stressful, but these updates are meant to make managing your PA ABLE account easier and more cost effective in the long run. If you have questions, you can always reach out to the PA ABLE customer service team at 855-529-ABLE (2253).

Warmly,

The Autism Pathways Team
