If your loved one uses the Developmental Disabilities Individual Budgeting (iBudget) Waiver, there are some proposed changes you should be aware of. The Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) is currently accepting public comments on these updates, and the deadline to share your thoughts is July 30, 2026.
What are the proposed changes?
- Updating the definition of “developmental disability” to include Tatton-Brown-Rahman Syndrome (TBRS). This means more individuals with this diagnosis may now be eligible for services.
- Clarifying background screening requirements for certain providers to help ensure the safety and well-being of individuals receiving care.
Why does this matter?
The iBudget Waiver is a vital program that provides home and community-based supports to eligible individuals with developmental disabilities. It is designed to promote health, delay or prevent institutionalization, and foster self-determination. Any changes to this program can directly impact the services your family receives.
How can you take action?
Your voice is important. The AHCA wants to hear from recipients, providers, and stakeholders like you before they submit the amendment request to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
You can submit your comments by July 30, 2026, in two ways:
- By Email: Send your thoughts to FLMedicaidWaivers@ahca.myflorida.com.
- By Mail: Send your comments to the Bureau of Medicaid Policy, Agency for Health Care Administration, 2727 Mahan Drive, MS 20, Tallahassee, Florida 32308.
When submitting your comments, be sure to include “Developmental Disabilities Individual Budgeting (iBudget) Waiver amendment request” in the subject line.
